Relaxing Moments

30 05 2008

There are really moments when i got home from work stressed out.  It does not mean i was stressed at work.  I am stressed thinking of so many things in life.  My thoughts are so full of unwanted thoughts that when am not treated well i bite.  Moments like this makes me long for a lrelaxing moment in a bathtub full of warm water and fragrant flowers.  I can imagine myself immersed in there and enjoy the moment with light music and the feel of the warm water in my tired body.  Somehow I thought too of someone making some small pressures on my temple to really ease away the toxins of stress.

I think bathtubs can be a luxury thing in a house.  It may not be a priority of the needed furnitures but i think it will also give anyone in the family a comfort that is not commonly found in most households.  Here’s what i found and i wanna share it with you.  Simplybathtub dot com.  They showcased many bathtubs that will suit your needs with prices that ranges from $800 going up.  They have different styles too like corner bathtubs, acrylic, antique, modern, free standing and cast iron bathtubs.  what  i love are the modern ones.  When you check out their site, you can shop by categories such  as whirlpool tubs or claw foot tub.  I checked out their claw foot tubs they look nice or elegant in some way but i like the free standing one better.

Culture Differences

29 05 2008

One thing that made me love to travel is to learn the culture differences of the people around the world. I haven’t been to many countries yet but i had the chance of befriending many people from all over the world and really to them – Filipinos are the most friendly people they have ever met. I can agree but really, it depends because back in China, my enemy is a Filipino. LOL!

Here’s something i wanna share that i come across while reading an old Health and Home magazine.

  • Some Greeks and Italians say NO by tossing their head backand clucking their tongue.
  • Puerto Ricans wiggle their nose to roughly mean What’s going on?
  • Swedish regard it as a breach of etiquette to toast your hose, or anyone senior in rank of age, only after they toast you.
  • Middle East people consider it an insult to show the soles of your feet while seated facing your host. It’s a no-no to place the feet on a desk, table, or chair.
  • Germans make a screwing gesture on their head as a stong expression for “you’re crazy.” Tourist need to be aware of because this head movement can get on arrested. such is often used by drivers to comment on the drivings skills of other motorists.
  • The Turkish village Kushoy natives communicate through whistling. This enables them to exchange messages over distances of up to one mile.
  • A Hindu father should touch his newborn child with gold. Tradition dictates so because they consider gold as the noblest of metals.
  • Englishmen of the sixteeth and seventeenth century believed that no one who lay upon feathers could die in peace. So, when death approached, they removed the pillow from the dying person’s head to ease the passing.
  • Many Hong Kong people designated blue and white as the color of death, rather than black.
  • Russians buy carnation and roses on their first date. This is a prerequisite! They are to be given in odd numbers because flowers given in even numbers are for funerals.

Barstools on Sale!

29 05 2008

When time comes that am going to build my dream home, I would like to make a counter that divides the kitchen and the dining room. A multi-purpose corner for a stay at home mom or maybe a work at home mom. It would then be a place where a visiting friend can stay while watch me work or prepare something for snacks. To grace this counter, is a barstool. Maybe I will provide three barstools to make the corner a homey one.

I can remember my bestfriend’s home where she has a dividing counter between the sink and the dining room and many of us would like that part of her house – eating, drinking, and or just chatting. And looking through the catalogue, I found the stool that was very similar to my bestfriend’s stools or maybe similar if not the same.

At Premierebarstools.com you can find a wide variety of kitchen stools or Currently, they are on sale and their furnitures on clearance sale does not look bad and it is a perfect thing for those who love sales. Wish i could order one but as of now I don’t need it yet. There stools or counter stools and kitchen bar stools are priced from cheapest to the most expensive but of the same high quality that will surely satisfy customers.

So you need one?  Check out Primierebarstools.com and browse through the catalogs and then grab the discounted bar stools.  But you don’t need to get the discounted ones if you pocket is very able. But for those who love sales – I already have the idea on what they are going to pick.   All you need to do is order online and they deliver daily.

Connection Problem

29 05 2008

I got home past 6 pm last night.  Since I didn’t plan of eating dinner, I tried to get connected as i’ve got some assignments to do but I was not connected.  I realized that my username and password is not the same anymore.  So i have to think and think hard where in the world i placed that small piece of paper that contains these two lilttle but very important info – i checked all my wallets and then i found it.  I tried correcting the PW and Username but still the same result – it didn’t get me connected.

I am feeling tired and heavy these days.  I dunno why.  But at 8:30 last night I was already sleepy.  i was exchanging sms when someone and was not even able to reply the goodnight because I was tired and sleepy.  I was not feeling nice too because of the topic we were talking about.  Around past 12 midnight, i woke up to the sound of text messages coming in and wahhhh still from him.  I didn’t check the time, so i just replied to it realizing later that it was a message that came in late.  I ended up not going back to sleep anymore.  The sms sounds sad – like I hurt him with my thoughts. I turned on the pc to connect but still it won’t get me connected so i turned on my music.  Really, I can’t get back to sleep so I cried.  When 5 am came, and i was sort of groggy, i have a throbbing headache and puffy eyes.  I really dunno what’s up with my connection but hopefully tonight, all will be well.

The other day, I was telling my friend’s boss about donating some of his property to a school that badly needs it.  That boss said, no problem as long as i can see that the property could still be of good service to them.  The property we were talking about is car.  Car Donations is common now adays.  It is better to donate your car than bringing it to the junkshop if it still runs good.  To donate a car is easy.  You can even donate a house or property.  Well, if am that rich and have a lot of property more than i could use then i will surely do that to those who have no house and car use to those who work in the farm and they will use these vehicles to transport their goods.

Tell Me Thursday – May 29, 2008

29 05 2008

It’s Thursday once again and I am excited to share the story behind my Wordless Wednesday entry just below this.

This place the Soda Swimming Pool was in our itenerary when we went to Camiguin earlier this month.  The name Soda sounds intriguing – so we really went.  According to locals, it was named Soda because the water tastes soda. I really didn’t prove it because we did not swim. It costs P20.00 to swim and majority were not interested to swim because it was very hot and the pool has no shade. OUr mind was more set to swim at the Cold Spring (Sto. Nino). Luckily, we were allowed to go inside the gate jsut to see the place and to take pictures thus I have my WW entry shot and the following shots:

Remembering Basic Chinese Words

26 05 2008

I was done watching Tokyo Juliet yesterday.  A chinese telenobela based in Taiwan and the audio is chinese but with English subtitles.   Hearing them talk mandarin chinese made me miss the country where I have lived for 3 solid years. :)   I guess if I continue to watch these type of movies – I will never totally forget some of the basic chinese words like the following:

Hello – Ni hao
How are you – Ni hao ma?
Have you eaten – Ni cher le ma? (they usually give u this greeting when u meet a chinese friend and i often joke with them what if i will answer – no i havent eaten yet, are they going to let me eat? then they would just laugh at me.  it was like asking someone to eat but it is just a formal greeting not really inviting someone to eat. :D )

Thanks – Xie xie
you – ni
you (plural) – nimen
we – women
Me – wo de
i love you – wo ai ni
my love - wo de ai.
come come - lai le
what - she ma le?
welcome – huanying
fried rice – chaofan (my favorite)
fried noodles – chaomian (my favorite)
fish – yu (my frends and i love to eat sichuan fish – very spicy fish dish)
yogurt – suannai (favorite
water – shui
good nite – wan an
I am a Filipino - wo de pilipen ren
I am an english teacher -wo de yingyu laoshi

These are just the basic words that I can think that i spelled them right.  I still have many words but I dunno how to spell them right in pinyin just like the following:

what is your name
how old are you
take care
no problem
so expensive
let’s go
go on
turn left
turn right
stop
i don’t understand
yes
no
do you understand?
oh my God!

Well, the word that i really had a hard time saying is the train station that many times when i asked a taxi driver to bring me to the train station i have to make the sound of teh train and how it runs. hahahaha.  With my few chinese words I enjoy talking with the driver.  I can ask him if he is married or not how  many children and old are they.  It was like they happily converse with me in chinese though am not a native one.  They feel happy when they hear you speak their language.  One of the main reason I didn’t master speaking the language while there was “i want them to learn english.”  they would love to hear you say that you wanna learn learning their language and it will turn out that I learn more than what they should be in their oral english.

Some of the important few words I really learned were the bad words.  though i didn’t use it but at least I will know if it is used on me.  Just like one time, I was doing something and it failed, one teacher commented in chinese using a bad word.  I really kicked him on the front.  They wondered why and I told him don’t u think I don’t understand?  If am stupid well you are more stupid!   And they all laughed at me.

Monday w/ Durian Fruit and Pepsi

26 05 2008

Yes. Had a pc of durian fruit (one big luscious durian fruit – seed w/ meat)! Can have more if i want to but that 1 pc was too much and I thought i wanna eat some ice cream with it but there was none.  Instead of the ice cream my boss said to buy Coke.  There was no Coke available so i grabbed the Pepsi.  I thought he will drink but no he did not – but some of us did.  I had a cup of it.  ONe commented that iba na daw ang lasa ng Pepsi (probably altered by the taste of the Durian fruit) but to me Pepsi is still the lad-ang one.  No one can beat the taste of Coke although am not fun of drinking it anymore.

Contemplating on the act of buying the Coke and bringing it inside the school camapus I feel funny.  Well, it is not a big deal to me or to many of us but I just know that if permitted their would be a lot fo judgemental glances and even comment.  Well, nagpakatoto lang kami.  Adventist as we are – there are really times when we do love to drink caffeinated drink.  So what I did, I covered the Pepsi with white plastic and yes it was not seen.  I remember too we did that in Pasay Guesthouse.  That was Saturday (Saturday pa jud)  we asked somebody to buy a litre of Coke but should be covered when entering the Adventist Campus.  It is funny really!  But i know it is not funny to all.
