My Cousin Who Got Married

He is fondly called Yec Yec or Yec in short for Frederick Roy. We started to get to get close when i worked at Bacolod Sanitarium and Hospital because I often go on week-end trips to Cebu and spent time at their home.  I never had a vacation to their home during my school years because it would cost my mom alot of money.  His mom (my mom’s sister) is a teacher and his father that time is an employee of Miller Sanitarium and Hospital.  He is the youngest and the most makulit one in the brod of 3.  He is fun to be with because of his kakulitan.  Very malambing and always smiling.  The one that often have that “no problem look.”  He loves food as much as i do but now he does not look fat as he told me he was early this year.

The night before his wedding day, we went out for a chat.  We went to a music bar not far from the hotel we were checked in.  He told me that if we were not coming he planned to just checked in the hotel and slept from 6 pm until the time to get up to get ready for the wedding.  We chika alot — more on his lovestory with his bride because I never knew nor met his lovely lady.  Well, i did wish him good luck to married life and may they last forever and be a good husband to his wife.

I have many first degree cousins but he was the first cousin whose wedding i was able to attend.

Unforgetable Experience with a Digicamera

11 07 2007

It was a quick plan (they said) that they informed us only few days before the big day that we will be going to Zamboanga City.  Me and relatives who can make it and represent the Ninang who is in Absentia.  The expenses were shouldered by the big haerted ninang (‘t esther).  I was on the list to go and mom, too.  But mom can’t make the long travel so she was left behind.  I tagged Dimple along (decided just hours before the trip) because i was thinking i would not have many more trips with her sooner as she is in school and it will be her chance of seeing abit of Zambonga, too.

I don’t have a digicamera neither any of my relatives who are going.  My old type camera was already broken months back.  The last time i used it was only in December and now it is a candidate for junk.  (Missed that thing…that has served me very well for 7 years — but i guess there’s always an end to everything hehehe) So, i tried contacting some friends who has one and tried to borrow. Dimple’s tita Nora — lent me hers with a promise that i should be careful with it.  She tried it before handing it to me and said, “the battery is not newly charged but it is still ok.  The battery is to be recharged using 110 voltz.”  I then said, “can i carry the charger?”  She then replied, “it’s heavy as you have to carry the transformer.  Don’t worry, the battery will still work for sure.” I did trust her because she knew her thing.  It was hers.  All i knew is how to open it and click for a picture. :D

The first pic i took using the cam was dimple.  Then the cats.  Then we went our way.  The third picture was the direction sign to Ozamis City thru Mukas and some more 3 pics on the way.  When we arrived in Zamboanga, i took a snap of all of us who travelled with the parents of the groom and the groom — right at the entrance of the hotel (Marcean Hotel inGuiwan Street).

Here are my companions on the trip minus dimple and excluding that lady in white t-shirt and that smiling guy in the center (behind the lady with glasses)

When we checked into the room — we took more photos.

The next day, the first shots i took was the mornign worship then the early morning view outside the room window.

When we arrived at the garden restaurant, dimple was the one who took pictures.  She loves clicking too but her angle is not as good as mine (hehhehe).  She then came back after many shots telling me the battery was already low.  And i tried to check it.  After one trial “click” the dgcam was totally dead.

Picture taking excitement totally gone!

We went out on for a quick tour of the city and all memories are just in our minds.  There was not a single picture for remembrance taken.  It made me long for to be in China because if you go into the tourist spots and you don’t have a camera, there would be cameras for rent. :D

Well, our albums were not made full with zamboanga trip pictures but our minds are full of those memorable places which for most of us if not all –is memorable visit and that was our only chance to see it.

I then learned this: If i get to own my own digicamera in the future, I still should have a non-dg camera on hand. At least if the battery goes dead, i can replace it anytime by picking spare bat packs from a store. :D

Her First Trip to Zamboanga City

11 07 2007

She took her first time trip to Zamboanga City with me last July 8-10, 2007. That was not her her first long bus travel as she had travelled to Davao City with mom in 2004.

At the planning phase of this trip, i decided that she is not to come along because of her classes. But few hours before the trip i decided to let her come along for the reason that this might be her only time to visit Zamboanga City with ME.

She behaved well while on the bus although she preferred a non-airconditioned bus. WE took the airconditioned one becauseit was a very long travel. She has to cover her nose the moment she enters an aircon bus. I let her prepare a plastic incase she really gets sick of the smell. She had symptoms of being sick while on the trip but it is fixed with icemint candies such as Candy Mint and some dried biscuits. She slept most of the travel hours.

She wore a white dress to the wedding.

She took pictures of the wedding instead of me.

On the tour — she enjoyed her time at Fort Pilar. She saw more artifacts than me because i had no more strength to go up and down the museum.

She enjoyed swimming with her cousin and aunties.

She was dead tired during the trip and slept like a log at night and hates to get up two early mornings — but she has to get up or else she will be left behind and maybe next time, mom won’t bring her along again.

We had separate baggage. She carried her stuff in a pink backpack and 1 sling back of which she is responsible to keep and always have eyes on while on the trip. I carried a pillow but she was the one who used it. I just let her be because i don’t want her to be bus sick.

Am Back from Zamboanga City Trip

11 07 2007

Was back from the trip last night.

We left Iligan Sunday 9 pm.

Arrived Zamboanga city 9 pm.

What a long travel.

It’s hot to travel by day but also scary to travel at night by bus especially if you are not familiar with the place. It was raining a bit and the road seems slidy and outside (thru the bus window) it was so dark. The last two hours was the longest of 9 hours spent on the road because it we really don’t know where we are going. We leave it all to the mercy of the driver to drive us safely to our destination.

Arrived at the bus terminal. We were met by the parents and brother of the groom. (The groom is the one related to us)

Dinner (just at the terminal). Everyone was real hungry.

Went to the hotel to settle and then took shower to relax.

Talk talk talk talk – seems everyone is talking. Lots of laughter!

Went out with my cousin (his last night being single) to the a bar not so far from the hotel. Spent time talking. Had some bear and some food. (i was so full that night) past 12, got a text that we should go back to the hotel coz they need something from the groom. So we went.

Had shower again — and then rested.

Monday
Up at 6 am to alot of noise (talking) then in a short while had worship. After worship moved to another room as the room we were in will be used by the bride for beautification session at 7 am.

7 am we are out of the room and we were on our way to the bride’s home (her grandma’s home) at Sta Maria.

past 8 am …back at the hotel and prepare for the wedding at ten thirty. Everyone was moving. Some took a shower, some ironing their clothes, some had manicure and pedicure, some eating, some fixing their stuff…what i did? took some photos after ironing my clothes and dimple’s dress.

Yes dimple went along with me. Just can’t live her. I just thought she was not able to make any summer trips so i just decided to tag her along with me.

10:30 we were out of the hotel to the Garden Restaurant where the wedding was held.

2 pm reception done. After the reception we went to:

Pasonanca Park

SDA school and church at Kawakawa Boulevard (met Cecile Naguicnic and Wayne Sabino, & Hazel B.)

Fort Pilar

Mission Office (Attached field) to meet Marie Joy Cedron (a classmate in highschool and schoolmate in college)

Back to the hotel then and went swimming

Had dinner at Grilled Palace

Went back to the hotel.

Sleep

4 am up to catch the 5 am bus for Cagayan de Oro. It left exactly 5:30 and we arrived Iligan at exactly 5:30 in the afternoon.
